Made in Himalayas

Our Story

About Made in Himalayas

A certification mark that honours the authenticity, craftsmanship, and heritage of products born in the Himalayan region.

What is Made in Himalayas?

The Made in Himalayas (MIH) Mark is a certified origin seal that recognises authentic products and crafts originating from the Himalayan region of India. It serves as a guarantee of geographic origin, product authenticity, and adherence to traditional or sustainable production methods.

The MIH Mark was created to bridge the gap between Himalayan producers — farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs — and conscious buyers who seek genuine, traceable products. Every certified product carries the distinctive red wax seal, a symbol of trust and Himalayan heritage.

Certified producers are verified for geolocation, production authenticity, and compliance with quality standards. This ensures that when you see the MIH Mark, you can be confident in the product's origin and quality.

Parent Organisation

HIMSEED Foundation

Made in Himalayas is a unit of HIMSEED Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the sustainable development of Himalayan communities. HIMSEED works at the intersection of agriculture, ecology, and livelihoods — supporting farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs across the Himalayan belt.

Founded with the belief that the Himalayas hold immense untapped potential — in biodiversity, traditional knowledge, and skilled craftsmanship — HIMSEED Foundation works to unlock this potential through research, capacity building, market linkages, and certification programmes like the MIH Mark.

The Foundation is headquartered in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, in the heart of the Kangra Valley — one of India's most biodiverse and culturally rich Himalayan regions.

What We Do

Our work spans across three core areas that together create a sustainable ecosystem for Himalayan producers.

01

Certification

We certify authentic Himalayan products and producers through a rigorous verification process covering geographic origin, production methods, and quality standards. Certified producers receive the MIH Mark to use on their products.

02

Market Linkage

We connect certified producers to buyers — individual consumers, retailers, exporters, and institutional buyers — who value authenticity and are willing to pay fair prices for genuine Himalayan products.

03

Capacity Building

We provide training, resources, and support to help Himalayan producers improve their products, packaging, documentation, and business practices to meet market requirements.

Join the Movement

Whether you are a Himalayan producer seeking certification, a buyer looking for authentic products, or an organisation that wants to collaborate — we'd love to hear from you.
